Irvine Marriott
The Irvine Marriott was looking to relaunch its coastal-themed hotel. LEO A DALY’s renovations of the lobby, restaurant and bar areas implemented Marriott’s great room concept, featuring meeting rooms, breakout rooms, anterooms and a business center. The property’s design palette of soft gray and sand contrast with rich woods, creating a dramatic backdrop for social interaction in the public areas. The design team used different textures and shadows to create the suggestion of movement in the rooms.
The hotel bar, with inviting sofas and cocktail cubbies, provides space to gather for private conversations and impromptu meetings. Designers incorporated inspiration from the nearby marina through the use of a metallic sculpture that mimics ship rigging. The innovative use of nautical materials provided a solution to the challenge of dividing a large room into separate spaces.
To transform the guestrooms into a haven away from home, our designers set out to blend color and texture with function. A bright white-on-white color palette forms the foundation of the rooms, while accents of cool blues give the palette some punch. Designers created thoughtfully sculptured built-ins, defining areas to work, eat or catch a show.
Lustrous finishes in the guest bathrooms feature quartz counters and a porthole mirror that appears to float on a light gray, back-lit wall.
