Nancy Melby selected for inaugural LeadDIVERSITY class

The leadership program centers around creating localized solutions for topics surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion

Inclusive Communities has selected Director of Operations Nancy Melby, PE, SE, LEED AP, of LEO A DALY’s Omaha design studio for its inaugural class of LeadDIVERSITY advocates. The leadership program centers around creating localized solutions for topics surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion.

“Diversity and inclusion are critically important to the development of business and the community at large,” Melby said. “LeadDIVERSITY training from Inclusive Communities will help me build on my natural interest in these topics, and better equip me as a leader to foster diversity, equity and inclusion at LEO A DALY and in the broader community.”

Led by Melby along with Managing Principal Chris Johnson, AIA, LEED AP, LEO A DALY’s Omaha studio received a Business Excellence Leadership Award for its diversity earlier this year, from the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce.

The 25 advocates accepted to LeadDIVERSITY’s inaugural class will complete a service project, according to Inclusive Communities Deputy Director Cammy Watkins.  The project will highlight the imperative nature of implementing social change that considers issues of identity, privilege, institutional inequities, discrimination, ethical leadership and creating inclusion.

“We were so impressed with the multitude of amazing leaders in our community who applied for this first class of advocates,” Watkins said. “I am thrilled to start working with individuals who were selected!”
