Four LEO A DALY projects win 2018 Condé Nast Traveler Readers’ Choice Awards

The awards recognize the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, airlines, airports and cruise lines in the world

Four luxury resorts designed by LEO A DALY were selected as winners in Condé Nast Traveler’s 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards.

  • The Diplomat Beach Resort, Curio Collection by Hilton, Hollywood, Florida (Top Resorts in Florida, #9)
  • Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort, Amelia Island, Florida (Top Resorts in Florida, #20)
  • Zota Beach Resort, Longboat Key, Florida (Top Resorts in Florida, #30)
  • Hotel Talisa, A Luxury Collection Resort, Vail, Colorado (Top Resorts in Colorado, #19)

Condé Nast Traveler’s Readers’ Choice Awards recognize the best hotels, resorts, cities, islands, airlines, airports and cruise lines in the world. This year, the publication received a recording-breaking number of responses from nearly half a million readers. The 2018 Readers’ Choice Awards are featured in Condé Nast Traveler‘s November issue, which hit newsstands October 16.

“What’s special about these awards is that they tell us directly what guests value, and it turns out, we have similar tastes! LEO A DALY’s hospitality group is unique in our approach, looking closely at the natural appeal of a place and allowing the design to emerge from that. That’s what creates authentic luxury, and keeps guests coming back again and again,” said Pat Miller, global hospitality practice leader.

Read on for a quick look at these four award-winning projects.

The Diplomat Beach Resort, Hollywood, Florida

The 1000-room Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Florida, is iconic again, restored to the breezy hospitality and sunny waterfront flair that first cemented its legendary standing as a mid-century social hub. LEO A DALY’s lobby renovation renews a sense of nostalgic glamor in the Diplomat’s multistory atrium. A lush landscape of cabanas, boardwalk-inspired tile, and brightly colored handmade rugs create an intimate series of tropical vignettes for guests to mingle. The two-sided Hotel Bar serves both lobby and poolside, connecting indoor and outdoor spaces via precision-engineered, operable walls.

Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort, Amelia Island, Florida

LEO A DALY’s reimagination of this historic resort creates a new vision of luxury and a destination experience for guests unparalleled in Florida. The lure of stunning ocean sunrises and brilliant marsh sunsets that has drawn guests for generations is enhanced, while maintaining a true sense of Southern hospitality and relaxed travel. With Omni’s goals in mind, LEO A DALY created a welcoming environment for guests throughout the entire property.

Zota Beach Resort, Longboat Key, Florida

A one-of-a-kind independent destination resort, Zota Beach Resort’s clean, modernist architecture highlights its powdery, white sand, with stylish interiors steeped in the history of circus, yachting, and the Calusa Native-American tribe. Rippling water, ocean waves, blue skies and sandy beaches can be felt in every nuance of the design, alongside resonances from the Ringling Brothers’ famous art collection, and detailing that evokes the Calusa longboats that gave the key its name.

Hotel Talisa, Vail, Colorado

After a multimillion-dollar transformation by LEO A DALY, Vail Cascade Resort has been reinvented as Hotel Talisa, The Luxury Collection’s first North-American ski resort. Hotel Talisa offers sleek sophistication in an idyllic setting, reflecting Vail’s rich history and the spirit of Rocky Mountain adventure. Nestled in the heart of Colorado’s picturesque Gore Mountain Range, this hidden gem is designed to feel like a private oasis from the outside world.
